• June 23, 2017: Iris and I saying hi to blockbuster crime fiction author Don Winslow at our local Chappaqua Library. We are huge fans, naturally!
  • July 10, 2017: What a profound honor and pleasure it was to personally meet Deepak Chopra! Wikipedia describes him as an Indian-born American author, public speaker,ÝAlternative medicine advocate, and a prominent figure in the New Age movement.
  • July 10, 2017: We were introduced to Deepak Chopra by our mutual friend and collaborator, producer Kabir Sehgal.
  • September 30, 2017: Joachim Becker meets Joachim Becker (in Cologne, Germany)! For as long as I have been in the jazz business, I have known that there is two of us with the same name. We have even been occasionally mistaken for the other, most memorably so at the 2007 Grammys when the other Joachim won a Grammy for a Michael Brecker CD project called Pilgrimage, and I won the first ZOHOís Grammy with Ike Turner.
  • October 23, 2017: Well here is what happened. Iris and I were just leaving Le Poisson Rouge jazz club in Greenwich Village with our friends Ricky and Augusta Apollon. We were just setting up a group photo to memorize the night. The celebrated clarinetist and saxophonist Paquito DRivera whom we had just heard moments ago in the club, walked into our photo shoot, and we successfully encouraged him to stay in the picture which he very graciously did!
  • October 28, 2017: Another wonderful first in ZOHOís history. Legendary Brazilian guitarist Carlos Barbosa-Lima receives an Honorary Doctorate from the Music Department of Five Towns College in Dix Hills, Long Island, NY!
  • November 4, 2017: ZOHO artist Carlos Barbosa-Lima meets up with Toninho Horta, one of the leading Brazilian songwriter-guitarists at the new Jazz Forum Jazz Club in Tarrytown, NY!

  • November 18, 2017: meet Puerto Rican drummer/band leader and composer extraordinaire Fernando Garcia and his hard charging, virtuosic sextet!
  • December 12, 2017: members of the Becker family supporting our son Andrew who has in the meantime graduated from trumpet to Sousaphone in the Pleasantville Fire Department Band, at its annual Christmas concert!
