• IDEM 2010 - Well, I was just minding my own business on the last evening of MIDEM, looking for a restaurant for dinner by myself, when I was abducted against my will by these tough-looking characters from the classical music industry who forced me to eat and drink with them ñ from left: JB, Charles Osborne and Joe Bickhardt from Premiere Distributors, and Todd Landor from Musical Concepts.

  • MIDEM 2010! ZOHOís President Jochen Becker attended for the fifth consecutive time, (almost) bringing up the rear in the alphabetical listing of my exhibition stand mates from the large A2IM stand (The American Association for Independent Music). ZOHO has been a member for several years.
  • January 31, 2010 : GRAMMY time again! The musical world took a break from awarding ZOHO a GRAMMY nomination (or win) for the first time in four years, but we did not let this deter us : we followed a NARAS invitation to the large GRAMMY viewing party at the Hard Rock CafÈ, and partied there with their New York crowd.   • March 6, 2010: traveling with Thomas was his wife Aya Yoshida, a tremendously gifted Japanese classical concert organist who was sharing the Bielefeld organ concert recital with him.
  • March 6, 2010: on a visit to my home town Bielefeld in north-western Germany, I met up with a classmate from 10th grade whom I had not seen in over 40 years ! His name is Prof. Thomas Meyer-Fiebig, he is one of the most respected classical German composers of organ and chamber music. Thomas has been teaching organ and classical composition, and giving master classes at the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, Japan ñ where he lives. The photo shows Thomas preparing for his organ recital, with a partial view of the churchís organ pipes in the background. Anyway, during our meeting, we came to admire the fact that we had ended up working in fascinatingly different musical vineyards.
  • July 27, 2010: Done! Two members of The Persuasions - Jimmy Hayes on left, and Dave Revels on right, celebratin' the completion of the master for The Persuasions' new masterwork KNOCKIN'ON BOB'S DOOR, with ZOHO label head Jochen Becker and Argentinian mastering engineer extraordinaire Fernando Martinez, 2nd from the right - at a diner on East 41st Street in Manhattan.

  • Labor Day: The Beckers have the habit of celebrating Labor Day each year with a group of old friends on a farm in Petersburgh, in Upstate New York. This year was in fact our 30th Anniversary of our Labor Day celebrations with these friends!   • Windsor, CT, September 11, 2010: ZOHO chief Jochen Becker meeting up with Prof. William Carragan, one of the foremost authorities on Austrian romantic composer Anton Bruckner. Both attended the 2-day ìBrucknerathonî where Prof. Carragan presented a detailed analysis on his completion of the unfinished fourth movement of Brucknerís 9th Symphony.
  • Beacon, NY, October 30, 2010: Jochen Becker dropping in on a gig of Colombian harpist Edmar Castaneda at the Falcon Bar in Beacon, NY. Jochen thanked him for his brilliant sideman contribution to Hector Martignonís ZOHO CD release ìSecond Chanceî which unbeknownst to both men was receiving a GRAMMY nomination in the Latin Jazz category on December 1.
  • Millwood, NY & Sao Paulo, Brazil, November 1, 2010: ZOHO is pleased to announce the signing of the fabulous Brazilian singer Patty Ascher to the label. Her new CD project ìBossa, Jazz and Sambaî will be released by ZOHO on April 12, 2011.
  • Millwood, NY, November 14, 2010: Highlights of the Beckerís annual social calendar are always the regular visits by our close friend and ZOHO artist, guitarist Carlos Barbosa-Lima. Each of our evenings culminates in a house concert by Carlos, frequently containing new music which might find its way onto a future ZOHO CD release.
